Pre-planning

Getting very excited!  Today is the 22nd and I'm finishing up last minute preparations. ( i.e. packing, cleaning, printing off maps, finishing the itinerary, cleaning the car, getting gas, etc.)  Oh, can't forget to make sure I have enough cash!

I'm hoping that I can see all/ most of the things on my schedule, including the Challenger gallery in Taos on my way back.  We'll have to see how things go.

I'm planning on playing the first round of poker tonight and then go home so I can go to bed early.  I figure I will need to get up around 3:30 so I can leave at least by 5:00 AM to beat most of the rush hour traffic.  Fortunately, T-REX is finished so I'm hoping that it's not as bad as it used to be....

Talk about this trip (10)
Does anyone know about a staircase in Santa Fe built by some dude with no supports. It is suppose to be some feat of engineering.

My Girlfriends and I went there last year. We rode the train from KC and we spent three days there. We had a ball. It is so together that we walked everywhere or took a tour trolley. We especially enjoyed the Art works at the Governor's Building. The food and Margarita's were excellent. The old Mission's were beautiful!

My family and I went in December 2005. It was freezing!!!!! We only had a two day stay, it was a spur of the moment decision to go. We wanted our daughters to see snow first hand. We went to the mountains in Santa Fe National Forest. It was so much fun. On the way up, midway to the top, there is a place with a small slope for the family to have fun. They rent some plastic saucers in which to get on and slid down the slope, it is great!!! but buy the saucers at Wal-Mart before you go they're about 1/4 what they sell them for at the slope. We got to see the town at night and it was all lit up, it was a beautiful site. We are hoping to go this December again. We'll see. Have fun!!!

I find it hard to believe no one has mentioned stopping at Chimayo just N of Santa Fe. It's a wonderful experience and a place I go to every time I am in Santa Fe.

I love Santa Fe. I was there December 2005 for 3 days...Not long enough!!!!
I visited the Georgia O'Keefe museum which I really enjoyed;at the time her work was shown along with Andy Warhol's.
I also really enjoyed eating at the Plaza Cafe in the downtown core of Santa Fe. My mother had heard on national public radio that this was a great place to eat and it was! I highly recommend the Tortilla Soup. Yum!
I am excited to say I've planned a five day getaway to Santa Fe this Dec. 2007. This time I plan to go to White Sands National Monument. I might enjoy a rodeo also. By the way, I was told that Ten Thousand Waves is a great spa to visit in Santa Fe. I plan to take a little time to visit there too. Bye For now! Enjoy Santa Fe!!!!!

I've been to Santa Fe and Taos numerous times and plan to spend some time there this summer. I am taking a class called "Walking in Georgia O'Keeffe's Footsteps." I am really excited about this class. I would like to know what restaurants others have tried. I liked Geronimo's on Canyon Rd. and the Eggs Ranchero at the El Dorado Hotel was to die for. I understand the chef has moved to another restaurant. I will need to find which one!

another worth seeing in taos, nm (north of sante fe) is the rio grande gorge bridge. it was a pretty amazing site. i would suggest also to stop by in Ojo Caliente Spa, you could take a dip for awhile in a mineral water and avail of the 'milagro wrap' as one of the services they offered. this is what me and my boyfriend did. the spa place is one of the landmarks in going to the bridge. and you may try wine tasting as well. i myself is not a pro in drinking wine but it's a good opportunity to be oriented with varieties of wine plus the fact that it doesn't cost much and you get a chance to have the wine glass as souvenir. You could try going to Black Mesa wine tasting place. Have fun!
