A 30th anniversary trip should be special even if it is short and this world reknown landmark fit that bill. We drove up from Massachusetts. We stopped in Bennington, Vt. on our way hoping to get my husbands birth certificate as we heard that it was required. Good thing it was not as the Labor Day holiday foiled our plans. So we took the chance anyway and I am so glad that we did. We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview Resort and Spa. Our room overlooked both the American and Canadian Falls. This is central to all we wanted to do. The parking is offsite so Valet parking is the way to go. You will not need your car if you are only there a few days. The hotel has a shuttle that is very convenient is is used by other hotels in the area. Additionally, the parks commission has a shuttle as well. Getting around to the Falls, the casinos, Clifton Hill would be more hassle in your car than it would be worth. The view from our room for the illumination and Fireworks when available is the best seat in the house and there is no need to make any other preparations. We spent both nights of our short trip at the Fallsview Casino. It is in easy walking distance from the Marriott. There is a great courtyard area with another great view of the falls. When you take the entrance from the Marriott facing the falls there is a pedestrian bridge over the street that takes you to the
Incline Railway for a one minute ride to the Falls area and
Table Rock . If you continue down the road a short ways you are at the casino. We at at the hotel most of the time as we had a package that included meals. We did eat lunch out. One day we at at the deli in the foodcourt of Casino Niagara on Falls Ave. This was one of the most reasonable meals we had. With all the taxes restaurant food is very expensive. Hence our decision to use our vouchers at the hotel that were essentially paid for. The Clifton Hill area made for a great stroll one day. Of course the hill is steep so the stroll is not necessarilly leasurely. It is full of interesting sites though and even for an out of shape person such as myself was worth the difficulty. We had a very nice stay. It is something I will always remember.
Anyhoo, if anyone has any suggestions about anything that I MUST see when I'm there, please let me know! Thanks.
Ps. I'd prefer to stay on the Canadian side of the falls.
But...prices on the Canadian side are outrageous! A regualr burger a Wendy's was 10.49 Canadian. A reg. cup of coffeee at Denny's was 3 bucks. A pack of cigarettes was 12.00 and I went to 4 different places to find that "Steal" on a pack of smokes. I went to a local exchange center upon leaving to trade my Canadian currency back to US dollars and got ripped off doing that. I gave the cashier 80.00 Canadian and she gave me 62.00 American saying the rates had dropped. Later that afternoon, I checked the rates to see she should have given me 76.00. Ifd you don't mind paying 17.00 for the Wendy's Burger Combo #3 and 12.00 bucks for a pack of smokes, then head to Canada. If you do go to the Canadian side, be prepared and watchful.
All in All, even with the prices, we had a great time.

I read somewhere that you should sign up for a Players Card at the casino and just park there for free, but it seems to be a pretty long walk. Or is there a shuttle I could hop on back to the hotel?
Thanks,
