After many months of planning and saving etc. we finally boarded our Martinair flight from Vancouver , British Columbia (Canada) to Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
Martinair is a subsiduary of the famed Dutch airline KLM and we were very pleased with the great service, meals and flight crew personalities. Since this is a Dutch based airline, we felt like we were in Europe as soon as we got on the plane! They served Grolsch beer (Dutch), the flight crew was all Dutch and the general design/vibe of Martinair is very European. We loved everything about it.
After a 10 hour transatlantic flight that took us over the Artic Circle, Iceland and the northern tip of Scotland we arrived at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
Upon arrival at Schiphol Airport we took a shuttle bus to our first nights hotel at the NH Museum Quarter in Amsterdam. The shuttle cost us 15 Euro each and seemed like a good deal as we were very tired and didn't feel like taking the train and then trying to find our hotel in a strange city. The shuttle service dropped us off right at the front door of our hotel.
