yeah it is very much ok to travel by bus from johor to Alor Star or to few other places as well from where u can take ferry to Langkawi.
Langkawi is a nice place to visit,so calm and relaxed.

I want to come to Langkawi for my honeymoon. I love the Four seasons' photos but it's very expensive! Could anyone suggest a similar view with less price? Also I love adventurews and sight seeing...any suggestions are welcome! :)

Recently, I visted Langkawi Island for three days. It was a wonderfull journey. I stayed there in a very reasonable motel at affordable price. The price rate from 75 MR to 175 MR, all of them are two beds the difference is just about sea view and back view. you can enjoy the beatfull sight seening in the morning, the foods and Spa etc.
