My mom and I are visiting NY for my birthday over the weekend. I have been to NY alot and this is my mom's 3rd trip. We are planning on taking it easy and doing whatever we want!!
Sounds like a great trip. I LOVE Grand Central Terminal. Strange, but it may be my favorite place on earth. Love Whole Foods too. When you go back you should try Lombardi's pizza..it's on Spring Street, I believe. It's the first pizzaria in the US and it's to die for! Go for lunch, though, cause it gets crowded.
My mom and I wanted to go to New york for my birthday as well! My birthday is on April 16th so we were going to leave on the following friday for a weekend trip. Ive been trying to find a hotel thats affordable but nice and in a good location. Seeing that youve already gone and have done a lot of the things im interested in doing there (shopping, etc) it would be nice if you could give me some insight on what to look for and any places you recommend!
The Wellington hotel is a great place to stay. Rooms are really small but you can request a room with a view of Central Park and it makes up for the lack of space. You won't be in your room that much anyways. It is in a great location in midtown, close to everything. The Milford Plaza hotel is also a good choice. It is a couple of blocks west of Times Square but it is an easy walk to everything. The Ameritania hotel is right next to the David Letterman theater and it was nice too. Shopping on Canal street, if you like "designer purses", is the way to go. You also have to shop 5th ave. just to check out all the stores. Central Park is always worth checking out. I could spend days there. You should also see Ground Zero while you are there. Visiting the Regis and Kelly is fun too. In order to get stand by tickets, you need to be in line by 4:30 or 5:00 AM. I know it is early but it is worth it to get tickets. Also, visit the Today show. Maybe there will be a concert that day. You also need to get there early to make sure that you get a good spot by the fence. If you have any other questions, let me know! Have a great trip!
