Well, we're off. It's 6:30 in the morning and a long trip is ahead of us. It should be a lot of fun. This leg of the trip will take us through beautiful Kansas City, then Des Moines, and finally Minneapolis. This is my first trip to Iowa and Minnesota. The farther north we go, the better it gets. Our first stop is beautiful Albert Lea for gas and lunch at McDonalds. Yum...not really. The accents are beginning to get to us now. Jennifer and I are beginning to sound like we're from the north because we keep hearing others talk with such an accent. It was fun to listen to at first, but now a Texan sounds like a Minnesotan. Pretty strange.
Finally, it's about 3:00 and we are reaching Minneapolis. Aside from all of the cops in Minnesota, the drive has been fine. Kris and I have enjoyed the stream of 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and today's music found on my iRiver. Now we get stuck in traffic for 30 minutes. Hey, it gives us a good vantage point of Minneapolis. At about 3:30, we pull in to the Days Inn where I am greeted by a puddle of water on the carpet. Fun times. The ice machine had decided to flood the carpet. This is going to be a fun trip.
After relaxing for a little bit, we decide to go downtown for dinner at the Hard Rock. My burger was a little burnt, but my story is nothing like Kris's. After he gets his burger, he cuts it and then bites into it. There is something that won't chew right and he realizes it's a piece of wax paper that had been left on the cheese and was now cooked into the beef. The waitress called it "inexcusable" and brought him a new one and gave him his meal for free. She was great and we gave her a good tip.
After walking downtown for a couple of hours, it's time to go back to the hotel. We have seen and gone in the flagship Target. Three levels of awesomeness. I hope tomorrow is as fun.
