Montreal Honeymoom

Upon arrival at the Montreal airport we took a cab to our hotel (St. Suplice).  This was a trip designed for walking and exploring Old Port and Old Montreal and
St. Suplice is directly next door to Notre Dame Cathedral.  As in all real-estate location is everything and St. Suplice besides being a lovely botique hotel is in a perfect location if one is going to explore Old Montreal and the Old Port.  We decided besides our serendipitous wanderings to turn over any dining suggestions to the concierge.  At the St. Suplice they have a top-notch staff and every one of their suggestions turned out to be better than what they said::  China Town, Latin Quarter, Jet boating the rapids, and the various restaurants. After burrowing into our room -extremely spacious with a terrace outdoors area and a large bathroom, we ate at the hotel in their lovely outdoors garden setting with beautiful plantings and even a small fountain.  I can not recommend the food because I ended up with sushi brook trout and the menu did not state that it was going to be served sushi style. After a brief rest we started our wanderings  and immediately north of the hotel we discovered two wonderful shops (Bor-Neo and Bali Arits) that are connected to gether and feature these two island's arts and crafts.  We later purchased some masks to add to our collection and a lovely bamboo wind chime.  The Old Montreal area is quite reminiscent of down-town Chalreston with lots of shops, souveins, narrow bricked streets, horse and carriages, lots of outdoor cafes and the major differences being that everyone speaks French, most of the signs are in French and the money is Canadian.  (Everyone also speaks English and language is not a barrier.)  My wife tried to practice her French, but we must have had Ameri can written all over us because we were usually spoken to immediately in English.
