My girlfriends and I decided to take a trip down to Los Angeles for fun and also to visit one of our good friends who moved down there from the Bay Area. I was determined to go to the gym prior to catching my flight, so a co-worker and I headed to the local 24 hour across from our work to get a good hour in. I came home from the gym feeling refreshed. I still had to take my two dogs on a good walk since my husband wouldn't be coming home from his 2nd job till late. After doing that, I made some last minute additions to my luggage and also changed into the clothes that I was going to wear to the club that night. Finally, I drove off to my mom's house (she lives right near the airport) and she dropped me off.
Kathy was at the airport already, then Cindy came a few minutes after I did. I downed my green tea frappaccino and boarded the flight. Smooth sailing in the air. The plane was tiny, you know one of those planes that seat 3 people total in a row. I've flown this type of plane several times when I did the Midland, Michigan to Chicago flight, so I wasn't worried. Once we landed, we headed to Fox rental car, only 10 dollars a day to rent baby! We met Ana and Rita at the rental place, then headed off to Nacional.
By this time, I was starving! I hadn't eaten dinner, but we were in no position to stop. It was already 11pm by the time we got to the area. Apparently, Ana's hook up did not end up throwing a party at Nacional, but he did say we could get into Ivar no problem. So, that's where we ended up. We all pretended we were 21 again. Most of my friends got pretty drunk, but I was ok. The venue itself was impressive with it's high ceilings, frosted windows that blocked the restaurant portion of the area, lounges peppered throughout the floor and an outside patio with 3 bars covering the entire location. Music was hip hop, so we were all happy. The crowd was a tad young, but what can you expect since we're a tad old!? I ended up being designated driver that night with no problem. My only qualm was my starvation! After the lights turned on, we asked Elaine "Can we please go to k-town!?!?" and of course she obliged.
Now, you would think that for someone whose been living in LA for several months now would have a pretty good idea of where everything is. Umm, no. We ended up driving around in circles for about an hour not having any luck finding k-town. At this point, I really didn't care where we ate. I don't think I've ever felt that hungry in my whole life! We ended up on the Denny's at Sunset and Gower at 4 in the freakin' morning. Once I got my Super Bird, I was the happiest gal on the planet. Denny's was definately our last stop on the agenda for the night.
We all crashed at Elaine's. Kathy and I split the airbed, one friend on the floor, two more splitting the couch. This definately set the stage for a "back to college" weekend.
