Saturday-Southern Hospitality
This was a last minute trip I planned as a surprise for my husband. We arrived in Nashville and were greeted with Southern Hospitality and took a shuttle bus to the hotel. The airport doesn't have alot a traffic which was great considering I live in Miami and travel out of Miami Internationa Airport. Traffic was reasonable. I think it took approximately 20 min from the airport. So, we arrived at the Hotel and it was a quick and easy check in. We freshened up and headed out to explore the area. Since this was a last minute trip I had little time to put together an itinerary, so we just winged it. Turns out the hotel we choose was literally half a block away from Printers Alley and 2 blocks from 2nd ave shopping and 2 blocks from Broadway. We checked out Printers Alley and then headed to 2nd Ave. We were starving so we grabbed a bite to eat at Big River Grill. They had a live band that was pretty cool and they offered indoor and outdoor seating. We choose indoors. This restaurant brews there own beer so they offered approx 7 types. If your not familiar with what they have, they offer a sampler. 7 ounce glasses with ALL there different types of beers. they were all great and hard to choose. For food I went for there mongolian rub ribs and oh my goodness they were the best tasting ribs i have ever eaten in my life! I stuffed my face. Boy do i miss them! After dinner we headed to broadway and went to a few bars ( i can't remember there names) .
Sunday-No Breakfast?
All excited that we were exploring a new city we woke up early, we had alot to see. We opted not to eat the food at the hotel so we walked around downtown to grab breakfast at a diner or something, but we couldn't find anything. We were out of luck. In the mist of it all we passed by the Bellsouth a.k.a. Batman Tower, Capitol Building, War Memorial and others landmarks. We decided to head to 2nd ave since it was a popular streetbut no breakfast places there. We stopped to ask a tour company for recommendations and they said, "There nothing around here for breakfast, maybe you want to try the Hilton, they have buffet." So we headed to the Hilton and we found ourselves a breakfast buffet with an assortment of things to eat. The food at the Hilton was great and so was the service. To our surprise the Country Music Hall of fame was across the street. So thats where we headed afterwards. We wanted to see the Athena Statue at the Partenon so we opted to walk since we were told "it was n't too far." 20 plus blocks later we came across it! although it was far we didn't mind too much because we got to see alot. We came across a White Castle and had lunch, saw Vanderbuilt University, an old railroad station thats now a hotel, Fort Nashborough, an old church and a few other things. We were exhausted by the end of the day and starving, so we freshened up and went to the Wildhorse Salon for a lil-bit-o-Country. The food wasn't all that but the place was fun. They teach you how to line dance and there are some pool tables upstairs. Afterwards we checked out Coyote Ugly and hit some other bars.
Monday-Breakfast is a Must!
Our last day! I was so disappointed because we had such a great time. The hotel offered to hold our luggage as a courtesy which was awesome. Imagine carrying luggage the entire day, our flight wasn't leaving til 9pm at night. We lucked out. So we grabbed breakfast at the hotel and what a disappointment. I missed the Hilton so much while eating my frozen eggs, bacon and tasteless biscuit with gravy. We explored the rest of the city and did a bit of a shopping. Monday was more of a relaxing day for us. The shuttle picked us up later that day and we headed off into the sunset.......to the airport to grab our plane back home.
Wonder if one of the bars you went to was The Bluebird Cafe. I heard that I might have a chance of playing my guitar there, if my name is drawn. ALso what Hotel was that were the eggs was frozen? What about the Days Inn or Fiddlers Inn (both on Music Valley Drive)? Thanks
I had a great time, found a lot of touristy shirts at the local Walgreens there. The Parthenon was awesome, even though when we were through it started to rain hard. We didn't get to Vanderbuilt University or Cuyote Ugly, but we did stop at the Wildhorse Saloon after we ate somewhere else because my mom heard it was good.
I'm not much of a country music fan, but I did buy a nice guy's CD at the airport. Glad you had a good time. Our hotel also had biscuts & gravy. Must be the usual down there.
