Kev & I had packed pretty much everything in the days before we left although we did spend a little bit of time that morning gathering up some more stuff to take.
We had planned on leaving before 10am, (Kevin worked til 2am the night before). But alas, we didn't get out of the house until about 10:15am.
I drove most of the way down. We only stopped to grab some food or to get gas. Our first stop was in Wytheville, VA. Their gas was so much cheaper down there! I filled up the tank & Kevin went in to get us some subs from Subway.
We didn't stop again until we were almost in GA. Like 5 miles away in SC, we stopped to get gas & actually went in at a Wendy's to eat. We've started a tradition of eating at Wendy's on our Anniversary since we ate there on the way to Tennessee for the honeymoon last year.
We were making awesome time. At this point Kevin started driving & he made it all the way through GA. Then his eyes started bothering him. So we stopped at a Florida Welcome Center and I took over driving. But it rained on us in Florida. And it didn't just rain, it freakin poured. Seriously I was going through Jacksonville doing like 20-30mph. It followed us most of the way through Florida.
We had planned on staying that night in Daytona Beach, but we were so close. We decided to at least get on I-4 and then stop to get a room. Well we got on I-4 and went for what seemed like forever before there were any exits. Finally we came upon some and decided to stay at a Days Inn located in Sanford. The main reason was because there was a Denny's right beside the motel. (I LOVE Denny's).
So we got our room. It was not that great to be honest. The carpet was dirty and it was very depressing. Not the best part of town either. But we were tired so thats where we spent the night of our First Anniversary.
Believe me...our hotel situation would improve magnificently .
