Kim shows up from NYC with two requirements: that we get sushi and Mexican food during her stay. I take her straight to Takao, near my house, and we get frosty beers and the lunch sushi special. It's delicious. We pop over to Ron Herman across the street because they're having their semi-annual sale. Nothing jumps out at us, but it's always nice to browse. After a leisurely shopping trip, we start getting ready to go out.
We hit Q's right next to my house for some unhealthy (but yummy) happy hour nachos and more beer. Then we head to Marina del Rey to meet up with a bunch of friends at Beechwood. I become fascinated by a ceramic bottle shaped like Elvis' head and keep

daring people in my group to order a drink from it so we can learn its contents. We all head over to the Otherroom, but the line is too long, so we pop around the corner to a house party that Luke knows about. Just before 2 a.m., we decide to make a liquor store run and bring beers and a bottle of 99 bananas (don't ask) along with the requisite Funyuns, Cheetos, etc. over to Shutters, where Pete is staying. We hit the hot tub and pool. It's the perfect night for swimming--warm and clear.
