Travel Day

We left Bethesda at 9:30 for Dulles Airport.  Dean dropped us off at the Delta gateImage and went on to his own gate. (he flew a different airline than we did because the government doesn't use Delta for travel, I guess and we used Delta because we earned a boatload of miles from our credit card).

Clare, Andrew and I caught the first leg of our flight to Atlanta.  I normally would not travel to Seattle via Atlanta, but that's what Delta did.  The flight was unremarkable except for the mildly surly flight attendants.

The second leg of our flight was better, except for the fact that I had a seat in the last row while the kids were 21 rows ahead of me.  On second thought, perhaps it was better that way.  If there was any fighting between the two, I was not there to witness it.  Actually they claim to have had a good time, talking with their fellow row-mate, a woman who brought her 17 year old cat along on the airplane.

I sat with a retired couple who were very friendly. The husband was retired from the Air Force and it was comforting to have him explain what was going on during bumpy spots in the flight.

After reconnecting again in Seattle, we took a cab to our hotel, checked in and walked to the waterfront for dinner.  The walk there was tiring, but the walk back nearly killed me but the view of the sunset over the water Imagewas lovely.

I've decided I'm not really a city person.  I'm still excited about being here, but not looking forward to the crowds during our time in the city.

Our hotel has a view of a highway, a construction site, some tall buildings and the Space Needle.

Thanks for the comments. I'm sorry I've not finished the journal entries. I keep on forgetting about this.

Kimnelle - We loved Quinalt. My husband and I felt like we were at that hotel in The Shining (without the ghosts and madman of course).

skildoc - The restaurants at the waterfront and Pikes market were ok. They are pricey though - as is most of Seattle.

I like your journal. sounds like you had fun. How did you like Quinalt? I'm taking my parents on a trip through Seattle and will try your resturant suggestions, especially Spuds.

I live in Seattle myself, and right now it is ppuring down rain outside, and we actually broke the record for the wettest November ever, and I think we also broke the record for the wettest month ever (I haven't watched the news lately, but I'm pretty sure we broke that record) and I wanted to read something optimistic about Seattle to remind myself why I still live here. I loved your description of the underground tour, which I actually did myself when some friends came in from out of town. Hope you guys had fun!

Great trip notes. I used to live in Seattle up until two years ago. I now live in St Petersburg, FL. I dearly miss Seattle and your trip made me home sick. But wait, it's rainy season there and now it's in the low 70's here in Florida. I'll take the later of the two weather conditions.
