Red Roof
After arriving at Union Station we departed for our hotel. I would recommend the Red Roof in to anyone on a budget or just looking for a place to crash at the end of the day. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly, but don't expect 5-star service for their rates. One of the elevators was having trouble operating and only some of the light fixtures worked in our room.
Mag Mile
We headed off down the Magnificent Mile. (I have only been to Chicago for a short period of time only once before). I love the architecture of the buildings as well as the contrasting older style skyscrapers with the more modern types.
The Mile offers great shopping and even better window shopping for those of us who can't afford the pieces that Tiffany & Co. have to offer.
Hancock
We had an exceptionally clear day and decided to scale the Hancock Building, great view! Last visit we went at night and although both views are spectacular, I prefer an evening viewing-something about seeing the city all light up.
Cheesecake
For dinner we ended up at the Cheesecake Factory. Because of the heat (102 with the heat index!) we ended up just eating salads (their Luau salad was delicious). This also left more room for desert, sampling a few different types of cheesecake (an incredibly hard decision to narrow down)-This is definitely a must if you love cheesecake or have an impeccable sweet tooth.
