1st Day

Red Roof

After arriving at Union Station we departed for our hotel. I would recommend the Red Roof in to anyone on a budget or just looking for a place to crash at the end of the day. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly, but don't expect 5-star service for their rates. One of the elevators was having trouble operating and only some of the light fixtures worked in our room.

Mag Mile

We headed off down the Magnificent Mile. (I have only been to Chicago for a short period of time only once before). I love the architecture of the buildings as well as the contrasting older style skyscrapers with the more modern types.

The Mile offers great shopping and even better window shopping for those of us who can't afford the pieces that Tiffany & Co. have to offer.

Hancock

We had an exceptionally clear day and decided to scale the Hancock Building, great view! Last visit we went at night and although both views are spectacular, I prefer an evening viewing-something about seeing the city all light up.

Cheesecake

For dinner we ended up at the Cheesecake Factory. Because of the heat (102 with the heat index!) we ended up just eating salads (their Luau salad was delicious). This also left more room for desert, sampling a few different types of cheesecake (an incredibly hard decision to narrow down)-This is definitely a must if you love cheesecake or have an impeccable sweet tooth.

wow sounds like a great trip, last time I was in Chicago, or the only time should i say my wife and and I were so in ahh by the sheer size of the city i think we spent too much time on the mag. mile, and navy pier, Wrigley Field and all the other tourist trap things that just start to scratch the suface of a great city, you have given me some excellent ideas for my next visit........hopefully next spring thanks

Now I'm more anxious about July 3rd, when I arrive in Chicago. Got a lot of great ideas from your trip. My husband and I love sea-food so we will definitely try out that Bubba Gumps Seafood, unless anyone else have other recommendation. Price isn't a problem either.
