We flew in to Zaragoza from Stansted (using Ryanair) and after a 2 hour flight arrived at 12.55. We got a taxi into the city centre (Calle Cadiz) and headed, as instructed for the Irish bar (Bull McCabes) where we had arranged to deposit our luggage with the landlord. After a refreshing pint of lager and a pint of Guinness for Chris (very Spanish) we left our luggage and headed off into the city.

Courtesy of a tourist map of the city collected at the airport we were able to work out where we were going. Here are some of the places we saw:

Basilica del Pilar (this is beautiful and dedicates the skyline from all over the city).

Monumento a Goya (famous artist from Zaragoza)

Rio Ebro (the river through Zaragoza). We will be living VERY close to here.

This gives a VERY brief insight into the things that we saw around Zaragoza during our first afternoon.

We then returned to Bull McCabes to meet up with my future colleague and boss (Nicole Conroy) and went to her home to unpack and prepare for a night out aroung Zaragoza’s fantastic ‘Tapas’ bars.
