Fri 05/26/06 (day 1)

Drive USA !

So now we're road-trip buffs....trying to drive across the USA from sea to shining sea & from the Canadian to the Mexican Borders...on as many roads as possible - highways, byways, freeways, skyways, parkways & anything in between !

Day 1 - Drive Day : We flag off this trip at 11 am - buckle up & zip across the great plains : Okie's dust bowl, the wheat fields of Kansas, Iowa & South Dakota and reach Sioux Falls next morning. Saw an awesome lighting thunderstorm enroute which went on for quite a while & man, was that something to write home about! Anyways, reached Sioux falls alright & very much ahead of schedule and woke the friends from Minnesota - who had reached there last night.....time for the holiday to begin!

Looks good except we have packed too much into the Saturday...we cud do the Rushmore Memorial on Sunday morning...hey just testing this funky trip tool....u guys are awesome!!

When you visit Mt. Rushmore, stop and see the Cheif Crazy Horse monument, its in the same area and a beautiful tribute to the Native Americans, the frist to settle in the Dakotas.

Hi guys, Seems like you'll had one heck of a trip....I plan to travel to S.D too from Omaha-Nebraska, which is shorter ride compare to yours...my wife and I plan to leav on the 26th of May, yup few more days to go...and like every other husband I'm still planning this trip... would really really reallllllllllllllly appreciate if you can fill me in with more details or :-) just plan our trip :-) we would hit the road by car..and it would be just the two of us and we plan to be back in Omaha by the 28th evening or max 29th morning..got to sneaking in a 29th off....look forward to your help, thanks again...

Actually the Crazy Horse Memorial is even bigger, they say the whole mountain where the Presidents are carved in will fit in the *head* of the horse. I did enjoy A LOT my Black Hills trip!
