The Departure

Well this morning I woke up around 6am and began making a metal list of everything I had to do and get ready for packing.  When my mother left for her 8am hair appointment, I snuck out of the house and went to buy a book to read during the trip.  I ended up buying "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire.  I've never seen the musical, so I thought the book would be a good place to start.  After I got home I made a music CD for me to listen to, and finished packing.  Then my mother and I went to King Wah's for their lunch buffet and I had my Lemon Chicken, which I haven't had in months, so I was very happy.

Our neighbor drove us to the airport.  Since I had printed out our flight passes the night before, all we had to do was to check our bags and go through security.  Boy, was that fun.  After I took off my shoes I remembered I had to take out my camera and film from my carry-on bag.  Then the metal detector went off and I had to be detained.  I emptied my pockets and everything in them was scanned.  Then I was patted down.  Turns out the aluminum in the gum wrapper set it off, so folks, please remember to remove everything.  Also my necklace and belt buckle also could have set it off.  My poor mom had to go through security again because of something, I can't remember now.  We waited for our flight for at least an hour.  I listened to my discman until then.

Boarding the airplane was a snap and I got to sit next to my mother on this flight.  Oh, did I mention we had to go from Cleveland to Atlanta, then Atlanta to Albuquerque.  The first flight was smooth and I sat with my mother.  The second flight was longer and I didn't sit next to my mother.  I was the middle seat of three and to my right was an older gentleman who kinda' reminded me of my father.  To my left was a cute young Navajo man named R****.  He was going home to his reservation for school.  We had just about the same color skin and we were both wearing short sleeves so his skin felt soo smooth.  I rubbed up against his right arm while he slept, thinking unholy thoughts about the "mile high club" ;o )  It's too bad he said he had a girlfriend.  I'm hoping to run into him again during my 2 weeks here.

But we landed safely and had to wait a while for our luggage.  It was about 8pm ABQ time when we got in.  The Days Inn came and picked us off, we left our bags in the room, and went out to dinner.  My mother heard about this place called Little Anita's.  It was so-so.  I didnt' like the green chili, it was too hot for me.  Then we went back to our room and went to bed.
