Road trip of all road trips. This is the real deal. This road trip from the New Jersey coast and to cali and back in about 40 days!! We are taking the southern route first with Shenandoah National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains as our first stops. After California we are zig zagging back to the east. The plan is to camp most of the way in National Parks, Forests, or Monuments in order to see the country at its natural best. This is one of the best itineraries I have seen on the internet/travel books. We are taking several scenic drives such as the skyline drive down the Appalacian Mountains, the loniest road in Nevada, and Highway 1 along the Pacific coast of California.
We finished our final preparations today, packing the car as best we could. We are scheduled to leave from Philadelphia tomorrow afternoon and head to Shenandoah National Park for our first stop. We are both quite excited.
Jon, KOB again, I noticed your going to South Bend, Indiana, Home of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, can you please take pictures of it for me if your gonna be anywhere near the campus
Everything is going great so far. We are not killing each other yet and have really been moving. It's day six and we're here and basically finished New Mexico. So far we have taken a Civil Rights tour, a BBQ tour, and a Native American tour of the US. Next on the agenda is a National Park tour including, Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, and Joshua Tree. Should be awesome....
