We arrived in San Jose as scheduled and met up with our friend. Our taxi took us to Kap's Place, sort of like a hostel but with a more homey feel to it. After settling in we had dinner at Soda Isabel (recommended in the Lonely Planet guide).
I been to Costa Rica also and I would also advise in helping out Turtle Conervation in Tamarindo. During certain times of the year you can watch/help the leather back turtles! Also visit Arenal... beautiful hot springs and it has an active volcano!
Although the visibility isn't as good and the coral as abundant as in the caribbean, if you need a diving fix in CR try Playa del Coco. Good chance of seeing sharks, rays, turtles, eels, other fun critters.
