Anniversary Weekend

We arrived at the Elm's Resort Thursday evening after work.  The resort was mostly empty during our stay.

Our room was very spacious and it reminded us of the hotel we stayed at in Jamaica for our honeymoon so we were very happy about that.  Two notes about the room - first the bed was very firm and the sheets too scratchy to sleep on I wrapped up in the blanket instead.  Second, although our room did have a bath tub don't plan on a relaxing soak it was the shallowest tub I have ever seen maybe the suites with whirlpool tubs are better.

We had the dining room to our selves and a our waiter was young, but efficient.  I ordered the ribeye and my husband ordered the sirloin.  The mashed potatoes and vegetables were incredible.  I was not impressed with our steaks it had a charred taste and was very grisily, but I had plenty to eat so I did not send it back.  The chocolate cake and reisling were a perfect ending to the meal.

We had a good time exploring the resort grounds and building. The pool in the basement is shaped like a donut and very unique.  We really enjoyed the rocking chairs on the patio the following morning listening to the birds chirping instead of the rush hour traffic.

We had a couples massage before we left Friday. Andrew really enjoyed his. I had mixed feelings about mine. I had been very stiff and was greatly anticipating my massage. He was very good at detecting knots and aggressively began working them out, however, he had me start on my back which left my back massage to the end. The result was, opps times up, I guess I'll stop there. The muscle he had been working on remained uncomfortably sore the rest of the day.

If I needed another get away I might consider the Elm's again. I did enjoy our trip regardless of the minor imperfections.  I just thought it was pricey for the overall experience.
