A Day at the Zoo
Wonderful Day at the Maryland Zoo.
I need to say up front that if you are in the National Capital Region and only have time for one Zoo trip then skip the Maryland Zoo and go to the National Zoo.
This Zoo runs $15 a head and is not near as large or diverse as the National Zoo which is free.
However, Having said that it's a nice day trip.
The zoo at the time of this Journal entry had three baby chimpanzees and they were cute as can be.
Bring a picnic lunch though, the concessions are horrible and expensive.
We visited on Memorial Day weekend, which was also a mistake. Way too crowded.
Other sites not too miss at the zoo, The children's area (which is a thing they have that the National Zoo lacks), The Otter exhibit and the penguins were a blast.
Also for $4 you can ride a camel or for $2 spend the afternoon with a cage ful of friendly parakeets.
The walk into the zoo from the entrance is long, but can be avoided by using the trams system which is free.
Overall a nice trip, but not fantastic.
