I spent this day recovering from the flight. Alitalia didn't offer the best experience. The food was awful, the earphones didn't work. It was just uncomfortable. I took a walk around Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum and the Capitoline Museum. The fake gladiators were very aggressive. When I declined to take a picture with them, I was surprised that one of them tried to insist by hugging me really hard and telling me that I would love it (it being the picture, I guess). I pushed him hard and he didn't bother me anymore.
We ate at Enoteca Cavour 313 and it was excellent. We shared mixed plates of meat, cheese and olives. The waitress chose our wine based on what we ordered and it was great.
The Red Rose Bed and Breakfast is strictly for backpackers. It wasn't bad. Location was great, the shower was usually hot, but they don't clean it or bring fresh towels daily. Breakfast is tea, coffee, juice and croissants but you have to make it yourself. The people that run it, Luccia, Ana Rosa and Luca, are very nice and helpful. But I would have preferred more luxury. The price was right, though.
This was a tough day. I didn't feel well enough to enjoy sightseeing, but felt obligated anyway. By the time we got to St. Peter's Square, I was exhausted. I waited around while Tracy went to confession. I think an old woman told me to go back to Africa, but I'm not sure. Tracy's confession experience wasn't that great, but she tells me she is just now getting over being mad at the Pope.
