We left SFO on a rainy morning and ended up in Maui on a sunny, windy one. We taught the boys to snorkel in the swimming pool at the hotel and then headed off. Pablo saw a sea turtle the first swim out and then spent the rest of the vacation looking for more, which didn't happen until the last snorkel out on the last day.
We had a great, brain-dead time all week. The Hawaiian Cultural Festival at the Ritz-Carlton was spectacular - 7 pigs and 15 turkeys in the lomi pit, hula dancers, fantastic slack key guitar and singing. Andrew didn't like the Ritz. He said it looked like a mall.
We snorkeled at Black Rock (the Sheraton) and Kapalua Bay, but the best snorkeling was right off our own beach at the Kaanapali Villas, on the reefs in front of the Westin Villas.
The best meal of the trip was at Mama's Fish House, but we also ate well (and more cheaply) at the Hula Grill and the Aloha Mixed Plate.
