We are heading down to San Diego today, making a stop at Santa Barbara. But first we made a little stop at AJ Spurs. If you've watched the movie "sideways" you might remember that's where Cami works. I'm sure you remember Cami :)
We arrived at Santa Babara just in time for lunch. But it being Chrismas, we had a hard time finding a restaurant (that wasn't Thai or Indian, nothing wrong with them, but we weren't in the mood for spicy food) that was open. We finally found this Italian restaurant called Bucatini. We had some very nice seafood pasta and thin-crust pizza. After lunch we spent a couple of hours wandering around town, but didn't find anything much interesting so we drove on toward San Diego. (We probably didn't do Santa Barbara justice. Next time we'll plan it better.)
The Doubletree Hotel in San Diago was nice, but the pool was not heated. It took me a while to gather the courage to jump in and I managed to stay in the water for maybe 20 minutes. I miss the heated pool we had in Solvang.
The real treat of the day was the dinner. Shanghai City was a really nice Chinese restaurant. Better than anything I had had in the Bayarea. It turned out we would come back to it for dinner the next day, too; and it also contributed a lot to my weight gain during this trip.
