Tokyo!

04/19/2009 / 04/20/2009 Day 1-

Tokyo , Japan …  The night before was up all night trying to adjust to the +9 hours of Japan . Was up till about 4 am in the morning… 7am comes to, we drop off the dogs at the kennel, pick up my pops and head for SFO.  9:30am check baggage in go thru the security @ the gate, boarded plane  around 11:45…  12:10 to 3:10pm +1 day we are  in the air. Thank god I bought a PSP! Watched the movie Seven Pounds with Will Smith… ANA airlines were very classy and gave top notch service. Seats were a bit on the tight side, but livable for 9+ hours. Touched down in Japan …  Passed customs, picked up baggage, and preceded to the nearest JR (Japan Railways) travel center.  15:45 we picked up the Suica/NEX card and reserved tickets on the NEX (Narita Express) bound for Shinagawa.  Boarded @ 16:45 on a nice empty NEX train, got to Shinagawa @ around 17:00, got my bearings messed up and exited at the wrong station exit… I’m such a dumb-ass, I should’ve broke out my compass… It would have saved some time.

For the next hour n a half Esther and I were looking for our hotel, she even stopped and asked a local dude for directions… and got them!  Hospitality of the Japanese people were very pleasant. We exited the wrong side of the tracks and @ 18:00 checked in at the Grand Prince Hotel in Takanawa… The hotel is great, room was decent in size and has one of those toilets that washes yo butt and has a built in deodorizer. The place is also equipped with a pool, workout room and a traditional Japanese garden with huge koi pond.  Only gripe is that there is no wifi in the room so I can blog my trip and provide instant details… however they do have a business center that has free access to the internet. Just sucks, because I have to roll down when the Center is open to keep updating.

Freshened up a bit then head out to find a place to eat… Local Denny’s… Came back to the hotel and crashed. Oh and BTW… 04/20/2009 Happy Birthday to me!!!
