This Universal is so-so compared to Universal Studios Orlando. We went to the park because my parents had booked our reservation at the Renaissance with the park tickets included as an engagement gift. We probably would have went even if we didn't get the tickets for free.
After checking in, we hopped on the subway, right under the hotel, and got off at the Universal Studios stop. It was a windy and cool day to begin with, and then to wait FOREVER for a tram was crazy. We WALKED, yes, WALKED up the hill. We made it there before the tram even came for the people waiting at the bottom. Right off the bat, I was not a happy camper.
Got inside the park and was honestly disappointed by the numbr of attractions/rides. I had done my homework online, but was seriously disappointed upon arrival. Many of the attractions were just that, walk throughs and shows, not rides.
Surprisingly due to the weather (40+ mph winds & very cool) it was very crowded. We waited an extraordinary long time for the Return of the Mummy ride before giving up on the park altogether and heading back to the hotel.
Once back at the hotel we went to the Mann's Chinese Theater to purchase tickets for the lastest Harry Potter film which had opened that weekend. Very clean & reasonably priced (In NJ/NY it's $20-$30, depending on the theater, for a couple to see a movie).
