Machu Picchu DESCRIPTION MachuPicchu, "Old Mountain" old stone Inca Andean town, built mainly in the mid-fifteenth century in the rocky promontory 400 meters above the Urubamba river, over another hill that is imposed as a guard called Huayna Picchu or "young mountain" , at the top and sides are also architectural remains. Getting to Machu Picchu is to enter a different dimension. A place where the mystic acquires its true meaning. Apparently built to belittle the man in the midst of a marvelous nature, it is said that the Inca Pachacutec, the ninth ruler of Tawantinsuyo, ordered the erection of Machu Picchu as a place of retreat, like a fortress that would prevent an eventual advance of the anti-people of threatening the Amazon rainforest to the Empire, or as a place dedicated to the worship of the sun, inhabited by real virgins acllas calls. But beyond these interpretations, which still captivates visitors and researchers is what was the secret motive that prompted the builders of this immense body lifting, as unlikely a place among the mountains, so wonderful monument. Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering that stand in the whole, the Temple of Three Windows, the Central Temple, the Priests Mansion, the Royal Tomb, located near the gateway to the citadel, the Temple of the Sun and the Tower, the only building in the whole circle. The Intihuatana or sundial, is one of the main attractions of the place. A stone carved irregular rectangular function whose propitiatory claimed the ability to "tie the sun", as its name implies Quechua. According to experts this place, set atop a small hill, was the most important of the whole. On July 7, 2007 Machu Picchu was declared as one of the new wonders of the world in a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal, following the participation of a hundred million voters worldwide ITINERARY Early in the morning we will go through your hotel in Cusco 1 hour before departure of your train, and take you to the train station, located in the village of Poroy, then board the train and begin the journey from Poroy - Cusco to the town of "Aguas Calientes" (2000 m) which has a duration of 4 hours, where our guide will be waiting, we will head to the bus station, to ascend 400 m for 30 minutes until the wonderful "Machu Picchu", known as "The Lost City of the Incas".
