I am making this journal to hopefully inspire people to grab their bag and travel around the world...
I went to Japan 2005, Europe for a month in 2008, Egypt and Jordan in 2009 and China in 2010. Its been an amazing and humbling experience.
Now lets get down to business
I went Sept10-Sept29. Spring time. Not many tourists in the hostels I stayed.
Visa: Canadians dont need a visa to go to Peru, Bolivia or Argentina but you NEED it to get to Brazil.
Argentina charges US$75 for entry; US$100 for Aussies & Americans.
Bolivia charges US$25(174Bolivianos) departure tax.
Communication: Easy, most ppl speak basic english but I advise to learn common phrases like " Dos cervesa por favor " makes everything waay smoother.
Transportation: Prepare yourself to epic long-ass bus rides. Barter your fare with cabs/taxi before getting in. Be ready for flights being delayed.
Health: Get Malaria, Yellow Fever shots if youre goin to the jungle. I wasnt asked nor checked for a Yellow fever certificate.
Book well ahead if you are planning on trekkin Machu Picchu, permits go out fast.
Now on with the show....
