The first day didn't start out as planned. We woke two hours later than we wanted. It didn't help the fact that we went to bed late. I couldn't get the car ready for the trip. So many obstacles in the way of that task. Once we got going, we made pretty good time. The trip was scheduled take 7 1/2 hours, we made it in 7. That's with two unscheduled stops to fix the roof storage. We kept hearing tapping from the strapes. There wasn't enough duct tapes to silence the noise. I wasn't able to turn up the music to drowd out the noise, the decimal level was too great.
We arrive at Amazinn Suites. The room was great and the beds were better, but there was no time for rest. We had exactly 30 minutes to get to the duck. Ride the Duck that is. Bus tour of the city then a splash down into Table Top Lake. Amphibious bus that can drive on the road and wade in the water. It was used in the WWII to haul supplies from the ships to the shore. It was a blast.
After that, we went out to eat. Fall Creek is a steak house with a small town feel. These people, when asked, will throw rolls at you. That's their trade mark. When we went it was packed. It remind me a Cracker Barrel, with a little general store in front entrance. They a lot of old signs hanging throughout the place. They also had concrete impressions for all the stars that have been there. It doesn't appear that no stars have been there since '97.
The day ended with us driving around town, seeing the sites with all the lights and getting ice cream. Very nice.
