The Best of Bangkok in Three Days

Bangkok is Thailand's major tourist gateway and an important tourist destination in its own right. The city is home to the country’s most visited historical venues such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun. These buildings, together with numerous temples and the city’s notorious nightlife draw about 10 million international visitors annually.

According to the Guinness Book of World record, the ceremonial name of Bangkok is the longest name for a place in the world. Translated in English, Bangkok’s ceremonial name is “The city of angels, the great city, the eternal jewel city, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarma.”

True to its name, the city offers numerous jewels of attractions and its active nightlife is a picture of gaiety. Visitors who want to see and taste Thailand’s exotic splendor can follow the suggested itinerary below that combines the must-see attractions in Bangkok and its neighboring cities. City-Discovery.com recommends a three-day itinerary to visitors so they can immerse themselves in the beauty of Bangkok and still have enough time to explore other attractions beyond city.

Photographing Bangkok

This is one of the best tours to introduce visitors to the city. This Bangkok photography tour takes visitors to a carefully planned route to the city’s main attractions to avoid the traffic. An expert guide will show them the best angles to capture photos of these sites. From the bridge above the pier, capture the city’s architecture and the bustling Chao Praya river. Participants will take the boat to Ratanakosin Island where they can get pictures of Bangkok from the river’s vantage point.

Take a turn away from the tourist crowd at the Grand Palace and discover an equally fascinating area home to traditional shop houses, 3 universities, street food  and the amulet market. Walk down the road and into small alleyways to get a glimpse of Wat Mahathat's Buddhist university/monastery.

Visit the Tha Thien Pier and cross the river to Wat Arun, the temple of dawn, to get a different view of

Ratanakosin. Take pictures of Wat Po, the temple of the reclining Buddha and then ride the ubiquitous Tuk Tuk to Wat Saket, a temple perched on Bangkok’s highest hill for some views of old and new Bangkok. End the tour with a tuk tuk ride back to Tha Phra Chang Pier next to the Grand Palace.

Spend the night tasting Bangkok’s local dishes, with servers donned in Thailand’s national costume. This is

followed by live performances of Thai classical dances, including the exquisite fingernail dance.

Thailand was my home for about 2 1/2 to 3 years. I fell in love with the country and the people. of course that was in the late 50's and i understand it has changed a lot. But I still think of it as my second home. Loved the place!
