Once upon a languid, summer day, our young (at one time in the distant past) protagonist, Morgan, had a bright idea (bright with Morgan often means not well thought-out); as he was ever so attentive to the dreams and desires of the lovely heroine, Carrie, and the enchanting princess Emily, Morgan would achieve the impossible and make imagination become reality. Through the magic of internal combustion engines and credit cards, the family would take a road-trip to Disneyland. "How wonderful," sang Carrie. "How delightful," squealed Emily. And they were off! Well to be factually correct and to not skip ahead, the grueling task of planning and preparing took place over two months time.
Carrie loves to plan. She would love to know that on October 3, 2012 she will have a dinner party and will know what will be in fashion so she may have her ensemble already prepared. Morgan, while beginning to have a greater appreciation for such well-laid plans, is more spontaneous. Tis true that plans will often provide great efficiency and allow more time for enjoyment but Morgan has a sneaking suspicion that such meticulous plans greatly increase the odds of things not going as planned. He, however, dutifully began plodding and plotting and laying a course, securing lodging, booking entertainment, all the while testing the limits of human endurance and his credit cards. Budgets were set and surpassed but in the end a final plan was solidified. In addition to Disneyland, plans were made to visit eight national parks and visit family in Flagstaff and Boise. The chariot was prepared, provisions were acquired, and wonderful friends and family joyously volunteered to water the flowers while the family was away.
And now this prologue is nearly complete. The motley gang of three will embark on their journey on Friday, August 27. We hope you follow along as journal entries will be made almost daily or as time, energy, and internet connections allow.
And now off to Never Never Land (no not Michael Jackson's, shame on you for thinking that)!
