It looks like the two extra days you were talking about are between Zurich and Milan... did you guys definitely want to see another city during that time or maybe hang out near Zurich for all four days? I think we may get a little travel-wary after all those train trips.

Are we going to stay in a small town anywhere? is we are what day(s) can we fit that in? We are cool either way... 4. Should we go ahead and reserve Hotel in Salzburg? I will start looking... Should I try for 4 bed room or 2 separate rooms or whatever works out...? I'm going to look for 3star type of hotel... So depending on price and location I will try to optimize to get the bang for our buck.

Again, up to you about the rooms situation; I've been around you Armenians long enough to get used to Palm Springs vacations where we are all cramped or even sleep on the ground... in my mind its just a tradeoff between a bit of comfort/privacy vs the economy of sharing a room. I slightly lean towards the sharing part but its not a big deal either way. What are the differences in prices? 5. I got my test moved to LA. One problem down... but a different issue just popped up. We bought into a timeshare program last year and are thinking about doing an extra week after June 21 in France. Ill be talking with the timeshare people tomorrow to see if its available still and then book our flights afterwards. After looking at various flight prices Im fairly confident we can get tickets between $1400-$1500. I dont know what your situation is regarding work and flexibility of your plane tickets, but you two are more than welcome to come with us for the extra week if you can.

But I will put some serious time soon and get some of the hotel reservations done. - Since we have already reserved our hotel in Vienna you might want to think about that... But I also know that is heavily dependent on the flight. Anyways, I'll be happy to help to find a hotel in Vienna for you if the one we got has no more rooms.
DUDE! I just had a great idea! How about if we rent a car from Zurich Airport second day that we are in Zurich (06/13/08). We will return in 1 week when we are flying back from the same airport. The rental is $375 including tax for a size that will fit all of us well. so it will be like $375+gas=~ $500. Which is like $250 per couple... Which is cheaper than train and we have freedom of checking Swiss and Italian alps on the way and back from Milan!!! Let me know what you think!

Car from Zurich: Are you planning to buy individual tickets for each train trip? There are package deals that cover a number of countries and trips so it might make more sense to go that route depending on the prices.

Rail for the whole trip seems about $445 per person. Based on getting 3 country pass for 6 + 1 days in 2 months. (the limitation is that we will be constrained to go from city to city straight). Travelling in train from Vienna to Zurich is about $335 with 4 days in a month for 2 country trip. So in total the cost is about the same TRAIN only vs. TRAIN+CAR. We are really want the second choice this it will give us ultimate freedom to drive in swiss alps and go non-standard scenic places! ==============================

Looks like renting a car for the whole trip may end up cheaper by about $150 total. Calculation includes gas cost and large return fee (since different location). Anyways.... I think I'll end up getting the car for the whole trip but not 100% sure...
