Las Vegas Day 1 and 2. Staying at the MGM Signature. We had a great suite on the 28th floor with views of sunrise, the full moon and the city lights.
Transportation from airport to MGM via Executive Airport Shuttle cost $6.00 per person. Very efficient. Rode monorail to end of line. Fun. Took City Bus to Freedom Street. Not worth the trip except for a few pictures. Rode the bus back to the strip. We visited: The Venetian Hotel and Canals which is awesome. Ceasar's Palace is worth exploring. Staying at the MGM Signature has been great. We are on the 28th floor and have a great view of city, airport and sunrise. We were going to visit the Belliago Fountains, the Sirens at Treasure Island, and the Volcano at the Mirage tonight but walking after dark is not what we recommend. Take the monorail, buses schedule at night seems very spotty. We also visited the Piasazzo Hotel, very impressive, Mandalay Bay, New York New York, and Paris Hotels. By far the most impressive is the Venetion.

We've been many times. Last trip we went to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon...can get there, sightsee and do it all and still get back the same night. It's a great trip....using GPS. Didn't get lost once. You drive through The Joshua Tree Forest in the Mojave Desert - Joshua Trees are scraggy looking cactus like trees. The canyon site has the horseshoe shaped glass skywalk. Amazing. The roads are good but mostly graveled. We rented a car for our week there and had the best time. Don't miss the drive through red rock canyon too.

We want to do some of these same spots but will definitely visit the South Rim of Grand Canyon since we have not been there ever, so would like to do North Rim but some say it is not really worth it. Disagree? Anyway,plan to fly to Vegas and stay about 3 days, then to Canyon and other NPs. Plans are for mid-Oct. 2011 for about 2wks or little more Suggestions are welcome!
