A day of swimming, science museum, and spaghetti supper!

Science Museum, Phoenix, AZ
After getting to sleep in a little bit we of course had kids who eagerly wanted to swim in the pool. We swam most of the morning and enjoyed some sandwiches with Roger and Ellen. Around 1:00 we headed downtown to the Science museum. We forget that we would need to pay to park in a parking ramp and had trouble finding one that we could clear with the storage topper on the van. We ended up having to pay $12.00 for parking and had to park a few blocks away which disappointed us because the parking ramp across from the science museum offered discounted parking.

To the right is Brooklyn laying on a bed of nails.

This is a picture of me with my kids walking across the balancing bridge.

The science museum was wonderful for all 3 of our kids! Everything was hands on and educational. The admission price was $10.00 a piece with children under 3 Free. They also have an IMAX theater and a Planetarium which costs an additional $8.00 a person. Since we arrived at 1:00pm we were unable to do either of these things because the museum was HUGE and had 4 levels and unfortunately closes at 5:00pm. We still had a great time and barley finished the 4 levels when they were calling closing time.Image

To the right is a picture of Alyssa who even at the age of 1 found plenty of things to see, do, and play with here!

I recommend this place to anyone who has children and please take my advice when I say you need a full day to enjoy this place!

Back to Roger and Ellen's
We had some spaghetti for supper and enjoyed visiting with family for the rest of the night. We are meeting up with some close friends of ours at the zoo tomorrow and are very excited to see them!

Are you sure you stopped in Lincoln, NE? Lincoln is actually a very nice town with very friendly people. I am sorry that you had a bad experiece with a panhandler. As for scary people, I don't think we are any scarier than any other place in America (except on Halloween), so I hope you will come back some day and visit again. Don't be a stranger.

I have lived all over the midwest (Kansas, Colorado & Nebrasa), traveled this country extensively & Lincoln, NE is by far one of the prettiest, friendliest, cleanest & safest cities I have seen. Makes me wonder what attitiude this person had on their entire trip.

I think your narration of the trip was great! It's interesting to see other people's views on things. It took alot of effort to travel with three kids. You saw alot during your vacation! I did this trip with my parents probably 30 years ago. It is neat to see pictures now, like the Royal Gorge with that incredible bridge. I don't think the bridge was there when I was there years ago... it was just the cable car. Thanks again for your hard work in narrating this trip.

Becky- Glad you enjoyed reading our trip. Some of it I wrote at night after we spent the day doing these things and some of it I caught up at home. This trip did take a lot of planning and for the most part I figured out what we were going to be doing ahead of time but remained flexible with small children. This trip cost our family of 5 around 2,000-2,500 although I did not keep track of the spending's. However it might cost more than this because we had the liberty of staying with family who cooked most of our meals for us in Arizona. So you would need to add in meals and hotel for one week.

wow what a trip and great job with the kids.. can i ask what do you suggest for s trip like this... did you plan out the trip for day by day??? as what was to do on this day and that or did you wing it?? i am thinking if i was to do a trip like this i would plan for each day after traveling days i would give myself depending on the destination... then planning where and what stops of course if we were to see anything interesting depending on where we were..(( i love to travel but have not done so in a long time))... but check it out..... how much should be saved or brought for a trip like this.. i was estimating between 2-3,000 with gas and rest included... i enjoyed reading about your family trip and felt like i made the trip with you,,,.. i feel motivated to do the same... did you use a laptop or did you write as you went taking pictures then when home re post??? i am hoping to have a new laptop within this year and plans for a trip after i purchase a vehicle.. the vehicle we have now would never make a trip past Rhode Island and we live in Massachusetts....lol

i would love to hear more do i need to post my email here??? well i will add it just in case this is my first time posting on the reply.... i enjoyed this very much thank you again for sharing these moments with me and everyone..... bewtifull1204@yahoo.com

We did not stay in Lincoln very long as we were driving 24 hours straight. The part of Lincoln that we were in did not seem to be a very nice neighborhood. As far as my impression on Nebraska as a whole is that I love it. Our family makes a yearly trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. If you would have finished reading my trip journal you would see it was the last stop on our trip before returning home. We also returned a month later to visit this zoo again. I too agree its the best zoo I have every been to and outdid the San Diego Zoo!
