Day #1 - The Long Awaited Journey
The day went wonderfully smooth. Neither boy put up a huge fight, and we made the trip incredibly fast. I was originally expecting to leave by 8:00am, but we left around 6:45am instead. We arrived in Vegas closer to 5:30pm than the expected 9:00pm. This was more than welcome. Stops Made: Avon, Colorado. Bathroom break and topped off gas. The state line between Utah and Colorado. Just for photos. Green River, Utah. Filled up tank and ordered lunch at Burger King. Elsinore, Utah. Bathroom break and topped off gas. The state line between Nevada and Arizona. Just for photos. I don't count going through Arizona on this trip because we only go through a 30 mile section. Las Vegas. Spent the night. After arriving in Las Vegas (beating Nana who left the day before!), Catherine and I went out for a little bit. When we go to Vegas we normally hit the southern end of the strip (New York, New York, Excalibur, MGM Grand, etc.), so this time I suggested we go up a little ways. We went to The Venetian and Wynn. Lost everything we set aside for this, but had fun all the same. After we got back from our little excursion, we took Nana and the boyos out for a little tour. Hunter was absolutely fascinated by all the lights. Our first stop with them was TI (Treasure Island) to see the pirate show, but we were a ways off from the next showing so we headed down the Mirage instead. The boys LOVED the volcano. When we went back to TI, the weather was way too windy for them to do the show, so we just ended up leaving. It was a long day (got back to the WorldMark a little after midnight!), but it was a fun one.
