Today we woke up at 6 AM and headed out around 6:30 to travel from Paramatta to Manly, which was about an hr commute, but even longer for us given the morning rush hour. We arrived in Manly and went straight into the dive shop, Pro Dive. We were greeted by 2 cute, tanned, blonde, muscular guys, one of which would be out dive tour guide. We paid, visited, and met another man that was joining us on the dive, John, from Colorado. The service was excellent, they were very friendly and helped us with all our questions. Us girls went back to a dressing room where we struggled to put on our wetsuits. It was both of our first times wearing a wetsuit, and it was quite a workout trying to put these skin-tight suits on. after helping each other, we ended up having one of the guys that worked there help us finish getting the suit on. whew!! We loaded gear in the truck and drove the 5-10 min. drive to Shelley Beach, where we would be going diving at. The water was mere 45 degrees Farenheit, and my fins did not come with booties, so my toes was instantly cold in the water. The water felt like pure ice!! I had on 18 pounds of weights on me to help me sink a little in the salt water. In fresh water, I have 6 pounds of weights on. 18 is quite a difference. We paid for 2 dives, but I only completed one, as the water was too cold for me to breathe in it. it was beautiful. The water was so clear! The sand is grainy, and it was so warm outside of the water. I would definitely go diving in Australia again, next time with more warm clothes on :)
After diving, the dive shop grilled some bbq for us and we had a great afternoon sitting out in the sun in the back of the building, visiting.
We then went to visit the Olympic Park, where the 2000 Olympics took place. It wasn't anything too special, but neat to see. I even did my own olympics in front of the stadium- a cart wheel. lots of them ba hahaha. :)
