New Journal Entry

ImageOn our first day in San Diego, we went to the beach in La Jolla. It was only around 60 degrees F and pretty windy. My daughter, Eleanor, didn't seem to mind because, once she got in the water she did not want to come out. We spent a couple of hours playing in the ocean and in the sand. Image

When we were done playing we walked over to the pier where you can view dozens of sea lions soaking up the sun. ImageYou can walk out on the walkway that will lead you out into the ocean and get a good view of the sea lions and the water. Image

After the beach, we went shopping in downtown La Jolla. It is an expensive little town but, they have some pretty cool shops. We stopped for cupcakes at Cups and it was delicious. Image

On day two, we went to Balboa park. It is a must see place. It is built around an old Spanish mission and is the sight for many different museums and the San Diego Zoo, as well. We didn't have time for everything so, we opted for the Museum of Natural History in the morning and the zoo in the afternoon. ImageThe Museum of Natural History was really cool. They have a lot of fossils and preserved animals of the region. The gift store was pretty cool and they also have multiple IMAX shows playing daily. My niece and nephew had a good time and even my one-year old enjoyed it.ImageImage

After the museum and lunch, we headed over to the San Diego Zoo. I am not much of a zoo person but, I always visit San Diego's Zoo when I am in town. The animals look healthy and it isn't depressing. You can get some pretty close up shots and they have a small petting zoo, too. ImageImage
Once we made our way across the park, we took the sky mover back and we got a pretty great view of San Diego from up there. Image

New Journal Entry

On our last day in San Diego, we went to Old Town. I love going there every time I visit San Diego. I always check out a new restaurant and have dinner. Afterward, I love to check out the shops.

Talk about this trip (2)
I visited LaJolla in 1956-57 but have not been back since. I, too, think it is one of the world's most beautiful spots and would love to go back. I'm trying to figure out a simple plan of leisurely things to do for my husband and me (we're in our 70s). Enjoyed reading about your experiences. If you have any suggestions, please email me at janisellencowan@yahoo.com. Thanks.
