Thought I'd write a little about Stirling and the wonderful Castle we toured. So much history here, William Wallace (Braveheart) fought the famous battle at Stirling Bridge just a few blocks down the road from here. and Robert the Bruce fought haqrd to capture this castle. Glad thatnI did some studying before our trip now it all comes alive!
P)eole are very nice except for one young kid who (when I asked him where I could find a little store to buy drinks) ntold me to "f.. k off!" So I politely went about my way,, but since I was alone (Garry was in the room watching futball!) it sort of through me off I didn't expect that!
In the morning we left Stirling and drove to Pitlochry, a small town hosting Highland Games. Even though the games were so different ( as you can see), in a lot of ways it was very similar to our sports tournaments / fairs. Really enjoyed the piper bands! The Scots really do celebrate their heritage and customs fighting very hard to keep them alive. Losts of people still speak the Gaelic language.
By early evening we arrived in Ballachulish with just enough time to enjoy a lovely dinner in their dining room. (No Haggis !) I just can't tell you how beautiful the countryside is in Scotland...one thing that makes a big difference is absolutely no advertising/billboards anywhere on the roads. Life also moves at a much slower pace here as well. Kind of like stepping back in time when things were much simpler....

Update on work-they are going to make the decision Monday 9-20 on who goes (counselor wise) and who stays and that is the day you come back to work. We are still in good standing. Bridget says any kind but something that says where it is from and she Thanks you. :) Sally wrote me an email and says she loves her job and is doing fantastic! I don't know if you knew the counselor's have to take a computer test in h.r. and they will decide who stays based on that and credentials but the final decision is Monday 9-20. I will write more later. Can't wait to hear about your trip!! :) Love, Lisa
Nonews nat work is good news, I guess!!!
Scotland is just beautiful can hardly believe it is real. Like a postcard. We went to the Highland games in Pitlochry today and it was so interesting. Saw how the guys pick up and balance a pole that looks as big as a telephone pole and the disk throw. (Not sure what these events are called) Will look on the program... Bagpipes everywhere with a compretition for the best bagpipe marching band.
We are now in Ballachulish in a lovely hotel on Loch Leven.(A loch is a lake in Scotland) watching the sun go down over the mountains and the loch from our hotel room window. Beautiful.... Must go down for dinner now so will write more later...
