It is the morning of graduation day!!! I can barely believe it!!! I slept in a little bit - but then got up and finished packing up for the trip down to Starkville. My roommate dropped me off at Enterprise --- but managed to put a nice scrape down the passenger side of my car before leaving the house - and I got my KIA (why are they always the rental car of choice??) for the weekend. I went and got coffee and got on the road!! I went about 80 the whole trip...and didn't get pulled over at all :-) About 1:30pm I arrived at my hotel - and they let me check in early without charging me -- which is nice.
I changed and primped a little bit before I went to attempt to find the Barnes and Noble bookstore so that I could get my regalia and picture taken. I met up with Jenn Muir and her boyfriend, Paul...and we bought our alumni attire before parting ways and going back to our hotels to get ready for the night. I stopped and found a sub shop to get some lunch - since I hadn't really eaten all day. I relaxed....and watched some TV ...since I hadn't brought any work with me ...a decision that I know was the right thing to do ...but now with all the work that lays ahead of me...yikes.
5:00 We met up at their hotel and we set off to find the "Hump" -- the coliseum where graduation would be held. We took a couple of wrong turns...but hey ...when you are from out of town...it is to be expected. We got in and managed to save a really good seat for Paul - who would be taking the pictures during the ceremony and ended up standing and waiting FOREVER!!!
9:00 --- We walked across the stage - shook hands with the President, the keynote speaker, and the provost -- walked off stage and got our picture taken and then snuck out the side...so we didn't participate in the recessional. BUT we were done...it was HOT ....miserable...and we were tired...
10:00 --- We wanted to find a bar to get a drink and some food...but got lost....got stuck...and believe it or not ...ended up at Chili's.
12:00 midnight -- Good night...I am a graduate!!!
