The Prep
Almost 8 years ago, while I was on a trip to Brazil with my wife, I got a call from my friend Eric. "Are you in Rio?" He asked. “I will be in 2 days” I replied. “I need a helicopter shot of Christ the Redeemer for 'Alias'”. I, of course, jumped on the case and took my first helicopter ride with my little digital camera. During the shoot, I really got how great Rio was as a backdrop for a movie. Along with my experience in Salvador, Bahia... I knew I would be back.
I’m prepping and planning for a feature that we’re hoping to shoot in Brazil in 2012. It seems like a long way away but in production time, it’s right around the corner. I could tell you what it was about but, well, then I’d have to kill you. So, let’s just say it’s a cool spy film and Rio and Salvador are prominent locations in the script.
My job this trip is to 1) gather general intelligence related to locations, prominent locations, and basic geography. 2) Gather enough information to rebuild parts of the towns and key locations we hope to use in the future.
I hope to spend a little time having fun but, well, that usually comes in dashes here and there... which is just the way I like it.
So it will be an action packed week. A few days in Salvador and a day in Rio.
