First Day

The Westin Gaslamp Quarter hotel is situated in the center of downtown San Diego with access to great shopping just next door, and dining in some of the best restaurants in the city within a two block walk. Attractions abound in the city include the world famous San Diego Zoo, Seaworld and the aircraft carrier Midway. This is a visitor's dream city and a great place to escape to enjoy the weather and sights. Read on for the visits you should make!

The San Diego Zoo is open every day of the week and includes all holidays. A five minute ride takes you to Asia and Africa for the most diverse collection of animals anywhere in the United States. The day at the Zoo should include the bus tour and the skyfari ride which will take you through the Zoo in about four to five hours. Our pandas are a special treat whether eating or sleeping. Stop for lunch at Albert's or The Treehouse. Both offer a good lunch and a break from animal watching and being watched by the animals.

When you return to the Westin Gaslamp, plan to "unwind" in the lobby of the hotel with a few beverages of choice and have the concierge arrange tickets to one of the performing arts productions. The Old Globe Theatre has well-known actors almost every evening or La Jolla Playhouse, during their Fall/Winter season, offers Westin guests some future Broadway plays to enjoy. Of course the concierge can book dinner at one of the many fine restaurants nearby. Everything from steaks to seafood and some very good ethnic restaurants will make your day complete.

Talk about this trip (3)
This looks like about what I was looking for; being that this will be my first solo trip. Actually my 12 year old grandaughter will keep me company, but she's traveled much more often. The only problem I can see
for us is that I don't drive! Also, I hope there are no restrictions on
her entering any of the venues,ie (attractions)we might want to visit?
Because of her age ?
