The day started early check in and security was a breeze at newark, will no longer fly out of JFK, plus off site parking is cheaper at newark. Flight was good, even got breakfast and a movie! Upon arrival in beautiful Puerto Rico we got our car rental and headed to pinones for coconut water and alcapurrias(fried meat turnovers) Pinones is a strip along the beach with huts or shacks that sell drinks, local snacks like pinchos (shish ke bobs), pastelillos(meat patties) all fried deliciousness! From there on to the hotel! When we get to the Rio Mar Wyndham Resort we realize this place is no hotel.... it gorgeous and for what we paid on hotwire...awesome! We check in...beware they try and charge you a security deposit of $100 a night. and off to the beach we head, the water is awesome, this beach has waves and we had a great time. Until our tummies started to growl, we showered and headed out. We ended up at Antojito's at the corner of Rt 3 and rio mar blvd, the night we went there was a guy playing music (not loud at all) and it was bossa nova of all things, it was actually nice, and the food was good too, the churrasco(skirt steak)was tasty.oh and the medalla beer.
we parked our car at an off site parking for $80 for 9 days. Newark's check in is much better that JFK and Laguardia. Th flight was great, Continental actually gave us breakfast and a movie! Once we got to Beautiful Puerto Rico a shuttle takes us to avis a we get our car, and we head to Rio Grande to the Rio Mar Wyndham Resort. It is gorgeous and nickel and dime you for everything they can. But we got an awesome deal on hotwire and they know it. We check in and head to the beach! The beach at this resort has waves wasn't expecting it but they were big fun! Went out to a place called Antojito's for dinner in Rio Grande right on the corner of rt. 3 and rio mar blvd. The RioMar resort is perfect in every way great showers, great housekeeping very clean.
