It took forever to get to Hawaii. We left out of Tampa, Fl  early in the morning and headed towards Atlanta. Once we got to Atlanta, I thought we would never make it to Hawaii. We were scheduled to fly to California and then off to Hawaii. We boarded the plane but never took off. We had to de-board the plane and had to wait for another plane. We knew if we waited too long we would miss our flight in California, so we waited in line and we were able to catch a direct flight to Hawaii. 9 hours long. I wasn't sure if my legs would allow me to sit that long. But finally, late into the night we made it to Hawaii. FYI on Lei's: in the movies you see everyone getting a  lei, this is only if you have paid someone to buy you a lei or friends are picking you up. If you arrive, and no one knows you are coming to Hawaii, you will watch everyone else get a lei.  Tiff and Greg were there to pick us up and I was so glad to see them, so tired, but yet not tired because I had taken so many sleeping pills to get me through the flight. Wanting to catch up, but needing to get to bed and unpack. Getting ready for the 1st day on the Island. Very excited to be back "home"

TIPS: RENT A CAR. Buy the book, Oahu Revealed and Maui Revealed. Follow his advice, he is very accurate! (We stayed with friends while on Oahu, so I have no suggestions for lodging here, but on Day 5 we found a Wonderful place to stay on Maui).

*I lived in Hawaii for 2 years, so some of my suggestions come from prior experience to this trip.

I have been to Hawaii 10 times since 1981. The first time there, I said I wanted to move there to live. Well our dreams are coming true. We are moving to the Leeward coast of Oahu to retire in August 2011. We are so excited to be going. we can hardly wait! We love the islands and the people.

I have been going to Oahu for the last 15 years; I have a time share on Waikiki at the Imperial on Lewers Street..Hawaii (all the islands) is like going to heaven at least for me..From the people to the plants to the waterfalls, everything is perfect..And let’s not forget the food...My favorite place is Hana in Maui that is surely Gods country. We are going back this year in July..cant wait :)

our first time to hawaii well it did not start good we took roberts bus service from honolulu airport to our hotel in oahu outrigger on the beach. when we got off the bus my husband then realized he left his jogging jacket on the bus with his wallet in it. hotel immediately phoned driver to come back, which she did about 30mins later. The cash was gone 540.00 of it. there were only one elderly couple and two military fellas on the bus to be dropped next to our hotel. the driver brought the wallet back with his charge card which we had to immediately stop. But we were greatful for his drivers license was there. even his jacket was stolen. need i say more, we are senior citizens who were deeply upset about a trip for the first time to a magnificent place. It was something we will never forget and made for a horrible start. after our stay in oahu we moved on to the westin resort in maui which made it all worth while. feb 2010

Our family have been to Hawaii about 36 times. It has alwys been a wonderful experience. We find something new and exciting every time. The first time we went to Hawaii was out of Love field in Dallas, on a brand new 747 by Braniff Airlines. The 8 hr. flight over was a fun time. We order our food from a menu that had beef, chichen or fish. This was in coach. The flight back took off at about 5:00pm and landed at Love at about 6:00am. The flight since have degraded to the point that it is almost torture. We have been to all the Islands. They have a persomality of their own. They are each specticular. Get a car and drive. Your eyes will get sore and tired from looking at the scenery. Ask the natives about the drives and what to look for. they are some of the must friendly people you will ever meet. If you can, take 2 weeks and see the four main islands. You will want to go back and this will help you decide what island you want to go back to. Don't forget, you can't see all there is to see in 2 weeks so, get someone to help you plan your sight seeing trips. Aloha!

I have been to the Islands 13 times and would love any time that I was able to go back. Included was Molokai(3x) and a short visit to Lanai. Each island has something special and at least 5-7 days on each one will allow someone to really appreciate the beauty and the people. Mahalo & Aloha until my next visit.

We went to Waikiki in December. It was beautiful. I cried the day we left. Waikiki is definitely a big city with lots of shopping, especially expensive shopping, such as Louis Vitton, Coach, etc. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for most of the stay and the Outrigger Reef for 2 nights. The Outrigger was a nicer hotel, but the beach at the Hilton is much better. Duke's was the best place we ate. My favorite part of the trip was driving up the windward coast to Northshore, where it seemed like there was one postcard scene after another. We spent one day on the big island to tour the volcanoes which was pretty interesting. Go to the swap meet at Aloha Stadium for cheap souveniers. Avoid the Navetec whale watching cruise unless you don't mind spending big bucks for mediocre food and no whales.
