There was a slight change to the planned trip. I do away with the visit to the Big Buddha for this trip and pushed back our Victoria Peak visit to Day 2. Neverthless, mummy, sis & I were still very much happy with the whole trip and I think my decision to cancel the Big Buddha visit is a wise one to allow mummy to enjoy the trip at a more desirable pace for her. Anyway...the first day was just a warm-up to things, (1) for me to familiarise the streets (2) for the trio to warm-up our stomachs to churn more food in the days to come.
The first thing we had was Mac's dessert chocolate pie and shrimp burger. These are what Mac in Sg doesn't sell...Ebi burger (rice burger), I only ate them from Mos Burger...so was quite pleased to see them available at Mac.
That's the rich choco lava wrapped in layered crust --dessert pie.
Christmas deco @ Elements, an up-class shopping complex, was Beautiful, Variable and Thoughtful. Why 'thoughful'? Coz they had gone all out to create that Christmasy atmosphere...even to the sofa....it's a Christmas tree-sofa. Why Variable? Different wings of the shopping complex carries different themes of Christmas deco! Simply marvellous!
We had Macanese specialities for dinner. Personally, I'm not a fan of egg tarts (to the extent of not lifting a finger on a quarter egg tart at home). But here, I've changed my view (360 degrees) on egg tarts....though I still don't really like them but I don't loathe having them. The filling is simply milky in taste and not those of raw egg yolk taste (that's my impression of them after eating the first egg tart I was exposed to ~8 years ago). I think if I had not so much food in mind to taste in HK, my sis who's a die-hard fan of egg tarts, would definitely stomach a few dozens for this whole trip ;p . This Macau Cafe should not be confused with 'Macau Restaurant' which is just located opposite it. Macau Cafe is located on the 2nd floor so u gotta lift up ur head to actually spot the signage of this shop.
This's a red bean ice. Not really what I like coz there are too many ice cubes in the drink that hinders me to reaching the red beans. Furthermore, I prefer large kidney(red) beans to these small red beans. otherwise, the drink tastes like condensed milk.
While 'gracing' the Avenue of Stars and watching the Symphony of Lights, we chewed on grilled fresh cuttlefish. It's sweet and so easy to chew that one doesn't need to have strong canine teeth to tear it or strong molars to chew the tough cuttlefish.
We walked all the way from Ave of Stars back to our hotel and of course we did stop to shop along our walk.
***Warning!!! Be careful to check your purchased item(s) after they are handed to u by the shop assistant. Because during the whole trip, we met with the problem of mismatched items TWICE. (1) Was given a different shade of cosmetic when I specifically asked for what I wanted (2) Was given a different dress size when they claimed to get me a new piece of the size I wanted...then when I returned to demand for an exchange they told me the truth that there's no new piece and the only piece left was the displayed piece which I had tried on before my purchase.
