On Our Way
Theresa and Tiana left Naples FL at 7:00 a.m. after a stop in at Sunburst Cafe for a cappuccino, hot chocolate and bagels with cream cheese and bacon for the road. We gave Jerome a big hug and kiss and off to I-75. We made our first pit stop at 10:40 a.m. at a highway rest stop. We were almost at 350 miles. At 1:20 p.m. we made our second pit stop, got gas, used the ladies room and then drove over to Wendy's for lunch. Boy was is slow, over 15 minutes and only two people ahead of us! By 2:00 p.m. we were on our way again. We had a couple of slow downs. One for a mini van which apparently caught fire but all we saw was the toasted van. Then we hit traffic in Georgia, which slowed us down about 45 minutes, the speed limit was only 30 mph! We finally arrived at the Mansion on Forsyth Park 3:45. After chatting with the bell manager and valeting our car, then checking in we finally got to our around around 4:00 p.m. This is absolutely stunning, reminded me of the Hilton Millennium in NYC. AAA 4 Diamond rated beautifully appointed and fabulous artwork everywhere you look. Looking forward to going out to explore and eventually get some dinner. If we are too tired to walk home, they have a car service to pick us up.
Walked through Forsyth Park and down Bull Street to River Street. Took us about 30 minutes and it was really hot... equivalent to 100 degrees. We went to eat at the Shrimp Factory. The food was okay, but not outstanding. Tiana had a peach daquiri non alcoholic of course and I had a mojito which was excellent. My recommendation is to stop their for drinks and eat somewhere else.
We then walked along River Street and stopped in and out of shops. We called the hotel for a ride home at 8:23 and we were picked up by 8:50 p.m. It's now 10:49 p.m. and Tiana is exhausted and I'm ready to crash too! Good NIGHT!
