From Van Nuys, California to Arvin, Santa Nella and Corning California:
These are pictures of Kevin's Freightliner Burgundy Big Truck and it's awesome. This is what he drives all across the United States and I love being on the road with him.
Kevin came to pick me up @ my place Monday (June 1st) @ about 11:30pm, so close to Midnight (Tuesday-June 2nd) I thought I wouldn't count this as a day. So we were off going northbound on the 405 (San Diego) Freeway which turns into Interstate 5 (northbound). I LOVE going on a run with him. Going up Interstate 5 until we come to the Grapevine-Frasier Park then we descended down that steep grade, even though it was late @ night there was still traffic on the freeway but he did it smooth sailing no problem.
By the time we stopped in the city of Arvin it was well past Midnight, Kevin was tired so we stopped here for the night. We were up by about 8am and got back on Interstate 5 - NORTHBOUND, Oregon here we come!!
We decided to stop in Santa Nella so Kevin could take a break & nap. Who, doesn't stop in Santa Nella!! Everyone gages Santa Nella as the HALF WAY point to Northern California. And we all know what Santa Nella is famous for?? The famous "Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant"!!
Kevin drove & we talked & talked & talked until we ended up in the city of Corning for the night and had dinner @ Rolling Hills Casino that evening.
From Corning, California through Redding, and the Mountains in Dunsmuir, past Lake Shasta and Mount Shasta onto Oregon:
The four pictures below is when we were going Northbound on Interstate 5 through the hills & mountains Dunsmuir, California. The 3rd picture you can see Mount Shasta in the background. Awe!!! The sights are just so Beautiful!!
From California into Oregon driving through Green, Canyonville, Roseburg & Scottsburg to Reedsport & Winchester Bay, Oregon:
This is Kevin driving his Big Truck out of California and heading for the Oregon Stateline. Picture to the right is of a Valley view while descending Northbound on Interstate 5.
And we're driving through Oregon & as you can see along with other trucker.
We stopped @ Seven Feathers Truck & Travel so that Kevin could take a break & nap & me I went in the store shopping for some snacks & souvenirs for my Yaya & Trymaine's twins but no luck. This is about the 3rd time Kevin's taken me to this truck stop.
Below is the North Umpqua River Dam driving through Roseburg, Oregon Northbound on Interstate 5
Driving across a bridge in Scottsburg Oregon on Highway 38 over the Umpqua River .
And this is part of the Umpqua River, taken with my cell phone while driving Highway 38 going to Reedsport, Oregon.
After Kevin dropped his delivery off to it's final destination we drove up to Winchester Bay and through Umpqua River Lighthouse State Park so I could see the Umpqua River Light. Thank You Kevin!!
When we left the Umpqua River Light it started sprinkling, when we went back to Reedsport, got something to eat parked the truck & it went from sprinkling to pouring rain. But that was quite alright because we just made ourselves comfortable in Kevin's big truck.
From Reedsport Oregon heading back to California on our way to Mount Shasta, stopping @ Weed, California for the night :
Got up this morning and it's time to head southbound our 1st stop was @ Love's Travel Stop in Roseburg, Oregon off Interstate 5. We sat there rested & waited until Kevin got his next assignment and wouldn't you know it picking up a load in Mount Shasta, California to Phoenix, Arizona. So we're off to Mount Shasta!!
This picture is while driving Southbound on Interstate 5 in Oregon.
And this picture is yes again of Mt. Shasta, we're not far from our destination, the city called Mount Shasta.
We're here in Weed, California @ Weed Truck & Travel for the night, since Mount Shasta is right down the street. We ate dinner and took a walk, it seemed like we were right @ the bottom of Mt. Shasta (the mountain) and it wouldn't be hard to get to but of course it is and even though it's June it was kinda chilly, but the walk was good we both needed it.
From Weed, California to Mount Shasta, Corning & in Buttonwillow California for the night. ALMOST Home!!
Friday June 5th, and this is Kevin with a BIG Ole Smile I do believe we were past Sacremento, California @ this point. Why the big smile? Probably because he couldn't wait to drop my crazy ass off @ home in Van Nuys, California and finish his route to Phoenix, Arizona...LOL!! Nah...Just kidding it's because I have to go to work Monday morning.
We spent the night in Buttonwillow, California, since Kevin couldn't drive anymore out of hours, so we stayed @ the Flying J Travel Plaza for the night. Saturday morning, June 6th got up about 8am and headed home.
