Yeah! Got up and got the car loaded and the DVD players ready. Man, it's hot!! Met Pat in town and got some breakfast. We were headed out around 9 am, exactly the time I wanted to get going. We got to Bay Minnette around 12:30, we detoured around a train on some tracks and took a different route that added a few miles, but it was okay! We got to Lamberts Cafe III a little before 2 pm and only had a ten minute wait to be seated. We ordered and again all left with a full belly. The food was good as usual.
We got to the condo at 3:10. I really did like having an assigned parking space that was covered. The kids were ready to swim but I had to pick up the parking pass and go to WalMart, of course. When we got back we went down to the pool and let the kids swim. The pool was not really big, but it was not so very crowded. We walked down to the ocean and got our feet wet. The sunset is always pretty. We finally crashed about 10:30 pm after we decided who was gonna sleep where. Sweet Dreams.
Got up before 7 am and picked breakfast up at Hardee's we ate at the condo. We went down to the ocean and ventured out in the water a little bit. Pat and my son floated on the lounger some. My little girl was too scared to go out over knee deep. I noticed Pat's shoulders were looking a little pink so we went to the pool and had it to ourselves for a little while and got in with the kids. I caught a few rays and Pat and I sat in the shade so the kids could play some more. We ate a snack in the condo and got ready to go eat and head to the hot air balloon festival.
We went to Ryan's in Foley and ate. The food was okay. It was HOT at the festival. We had so much fun there, my little girl bounced on the bungee bounce; we looked at all the booths and I bought some pretty windchimes. The kids played in the bouncers, we sang with the band and Pat loved the frisbee dogs. They were something to see. The hot air balloons were amazing and the fireworks were pretty. It was a great evening. We got back to the condo around 11:10 or so and both the kids were asleep. I hated to wake them up but no way was I carrying them up 3 flights of stairs! We all crashed.
Well, Father's day is really not a celebrated day as far as the kid's dad goes; I bought Pat a new Alabama tshirt from the kids and they gave him a card. I also bought breakfast at Waffle House. We did not have to wait and that was great. Good food for a Sunday morning. We made our stop by WalMart to pick up some more drinks and went back to the Condo. Well, I was informed I had snored the past two nights so Pat wanted to take a nap and I took the rugrats to the pool. It was HOT, I now know where all the sweat glands are in my body and they work too. Anyway, I could only tolerate my wonderful children for a little over an hour and we went back up to the condo. Pat did get a nap and was trying to get the doorknob to lock on the second bedroom, it had a problem. He fixed it. I took a nap before we went souvenir shopping and to lunch.
I had planned to eat at Bahama Bob's and we sat on the porch. It was hot but the view is worth it and the breeze was blowing. I had read about the burgers and my son got one and so did I. Pat got the fried shrimp and my girl got a corndog. Pat and I were splitting our orders so we both had the shrimp and burger. It was VERY good. I thought it was a little overpriced but the taste of the food and service was excellent. My ex called and that kinda bummed out the afternoon, well at least for me it did. After lunch (it was almost 3pm) we went to Alvin's Island, Souvenir City and the Purple Octopus. Then we went to TCBY for a cone. My son had some problems there but we tried not to get too mad because it was our last evening. Oh yeah, we also had to go get my lottery ticket. I took the kids down to the ocean and we walked on the beach some and I let them play in the pool some more. That night we went crabbin' but only saw three, not the ghost crabs that are usually out. We watched some tv and went to bed.
I saw those tshirts and thought for the day you have to go home that it was fitting. I woke up at 3 am and could not go back to sleep. The majority of this trip did not go the way I thought it would. So LIFE IS CRAP and going home will be closer to an even bigger pile of it now.
Anyway, trying to look on the bright side. I went and got biscuits from Hardees and the kids locked themselves out of the condo while Pat was in the shower. :) He saw them running by on the balcony and let them in. We ate breakfast and went down to the pool, we sat in the shade and let them swim for about a hour before we had to get packed up and leave. I HATE packing to go, yeah it's crap. After staying Sunday night and not leaving until Monday, that is definetly the way to do it. I wasn't quite as tired as I usually feel even though I had been up since 3 am and I almost fell asleep numerous times driving home. I will stay that extra night it is better that way, just don't wake up at 3 am. For the most part the trip was good and I did enjoy it. I was so not ready to come home because. . .life. . .
ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride.
