We are an Indian family of 3 residing in Bahrain, including a 4 yr old child. This is our first visit to Switzerland and we'll be there for 15 days.
Our flight from Bahrain was at 4.50 am (Friday). We fly by Emirates Airlines via Dubai. The flight was good and we arrived at Zurich airport at 1.25pm (Friday). Right from the start we get a feel of the Swiss transport system, where a train takes you all the way from the disembarking point to the immigration area..great! Unlike in Dubai airport and other middle east airpots, where we have a bus ride, here the train wisks us quickly to the immigration.
My fahter's cousin picked us up from the airport and drov us all the way the to Interlaken where we'll be staying for 10 days.
We had booked ourselves a 3 star B&B accomodation at Susi's B&B, which was attached to the Lotchberg Hotel. Dont carry too much heavy baggage as there are no lifts and u'll need to haul them all by yourselves up to ur room. This place was recommended to us by one of our friends in Bahrain.
We arrived at Interlaken by 6 pm put our baggage in the room and proceeded to explore the area. The interlaken West station was only a 3 minute walk from this place + the supermarket Migros was a minute away. There are a lot of take aways in the area and hence we found the place very convenient. The month of May being the summer vaccation time in India, the place was teeming with Indian tourists who were part of the many tour packages.
Note: MIGROS and COOP the supermarkets close by 6-6.30pm and they are closed on sundays. Hence get your stuff and store iaccordingly. THe outlet named KIOSK sells all essentials including food, but they price most of the items at least 2 times more. So if u plan ur purchases for Food and Beverages/Snacks in advance and get it from COOP u get to save a lot of CHF.
eg 1 bottle of Iced Tea/Pepsi costs about CHF 3.8 at the KIosk, where as at COOP u get for less than 1 CHF...guess how much u could save here!!
