2009 ~ Shenandoah Valley, VA

6/26/09 ~ As we are in the planning stages for our fall 2009 vacation to Virginia, we already have lots of "unscheduled" places we plan to see & do!  We have been to Massanutten every year for the last 8 years and always look forward to returning.  This year is no exception ~ but with an added bonus...............our granddaughter is going with us!!   Reservation confirmation received! 

We are very excited to have the opportunity to take her places she's never been.   Our packing check lists are already made, addresses/hours/prices are already printed for most places we hope to get to this year.  A definite stop will be Luray Caverns.  It's been 8 years since we've been there and since DJ will be with us, it'll be nice to see again.  Another stop in the Luray area is the Luray Zoo.  We have not visited the zoo yet but plan to do so this year.

The Frontier Culture Museum is also on our list for 2009.  This will be a great learning experience for DJ, we found it very interesting when we visited here several years ago.

Naturally, the Farmers Market in Dayton is on this years list again.   We might also stop by the Harrisonburg Children's Museum this year, not sure yet.

A rainy day trip to the Massanutten Water Park is also in our plans.  Figured if it rains one day, that's probably what we'll do.  If we don't get any rain during our week long stay, then we'll probably do the water park on Thursday or Friday.  Kinda like a winding down time before leaving on Saturday!

8/5/09 ~ Vacation time is getting closer and the thought of getting away has seeped to the core of our beings!!  Some items we plan to take with us are sitting with the suitcases waiting to go..........we're not anxious!  It's been a long year.

What I didn't include in the June post here was that the Luray Zoo is a rescue zoo, can't wait to check it out.

Talked to DJ (since she's 3 hours away from us, we don't see her as often as we would like) about the trip a few weeks ago to find out if she received the packing checklist we sent her.  Told her some of the things we'll do while there - she wanted to start packing the moment she got off the phone!   She still had 2 months till vacation at that time, LOL

Massanutten now has wireless internet in all the units so laptops will be going with us to download photos right away.  We'll post them on webshots & facebook.  I plan to take LOTS of photos!

Next post will most likely be the night before we leave.......................37 more days!!
