Day One
We arrive early at our hotel and were unable to check in. No sweat! We went to the Burger King next door for a quick snack and light refreshments. Afterward we headed into town to see one of Texas' gems, the Texas State Museum.
After paying for admission, I soon realized that their admittance policy is very lax. I probably could have admitted myself in without payment. The only benefit I found (aside from sheer honesty) was that your parking ticket is included in your ticket price. The give you a token which you present to the guard when you exit the parking lot. Another alternative to the paid parking lots are the parking lots for the stores nearby.
While in the Aquarium, there are plenty of opportunities for photos, so a camera is a must! You will enjoy this more if you really like marine animals. There are some really nice tanks with exotic fish, sharks, and turtles. The tank that really blew me away were the jelly fish tank. This is probably because I love to take pictures, and the pictures were awesome!
Outdoors you could see the dolphin exhibit where they perform. I managed to catch the performance from underwater because they have a viewing room behind the performance. I didn't mind not seeing the show at ground level because it was hot, and the underwater viewing room allows you to see the show from a different perspective and with AC! Double bonus.
When we left the aquarium it was closing time for other attractions in that area so we went to our hotel rooms to unwind. The hotel I stayed at was the Comfort Suites located about 10 minutes from all the attractions. It is in an area that is around the airport, however it is much newer than the other hotels I researched in Corpus. When I entered the room, I was happy to know that we could get free WIFI, a refrigerator, microwave, and a speaker in the restroom (so you can hear the TV while you are in there).
The facilities are very new. The Hotel opened its doors in 2007, so needless to say things are new. A continental meal is included with your stay. Bonus!
Later that night we dined at a nice restaurant in downtown. Seafood is big in Corpus so eat up!
Afterward we head off to Wal*Mart to purchase some items and headed to the hotel to unwind and call it a day!

This trip was intended to be an escape trip from the daily grind of living in Houston. I only had from May 23 to the 25 to see all that I could in that time. Needless to say, there is an abundance of things to do in this town. I wanted to see the major highlights of this city, which is what I felt I did. Along for the trip was my wife who found this trip to be a good vacation destination.

I totally agree! The beach was beautiful and the city had a nice relaxing feel to it. The hotel was excellent! It included LCD tv, dvd player, refrigerator, and an awesome bathroom that had speakers so that you can hear your tv while taking care of business. Lol! Overall, it was a nice trip, not overcrowded like San Antonio.

We were in Corpus recently(June 26-July 1) and every time is new adventure we went fishing cought a couple of baby sharks which the boat crew help release back to water. We stayed @ Candelwood Hotel and Holiday Inn. Went to Port Aransas, have good time in the white sandy beaches. One thing was not to enjoyable a waiting of 50 min for the ferry to go across the channel. Anyway looking forward be back in Oct. We enjoy our stay everytime, we love Corpus. Reguards from West Tx.
