This will be my first official trip outside of the US and … More
This will be my first official trip outside of the US and I'm VERY excited. I won't be spending the whole time in Canada. I'm flying into Vancouver for a couple of days before boarding a cruise ship in route to Alaska!Again, I'm very excited. Not only because I'll be visiting new places but because I'm in dire need of a vacation from just about everything.

Long Trip...

What a day this was O_O. Today started my venture off to Vancouver. Before arriving there, I had a connecting flight in Toronto. The flight to Toronto was pretty quick to my surprise; only 3 hours. I wish I could say the same for my trip to Vancouver >.< But overall that was much better than the one to Toronto. I flew on American Airlines and the pre-landing was horrible. I felt like i was bouncing up and down in the plane. I normally do not get airsick and I'm surprised I didn't. My poor tummy. The flight to Vancouver was fantastic. Air Canada is maaahvelous. You have your own personal screen to watch movies, tv shows, etc. However, I spent most of the time sleeping. LOL. I was exhausted. All this craziness started at 10 in the morning eastern standard time. I finally arrived in Vancouver at 6. After picking up my luggage and flagging a taxi cab, I headed directly for the hotel. And was I happy to see the hotel. I was soooo tired. u.u The room has a phenomenal view from the 25th floor. You can see the North Vancouver skyline with a mountain range backdrop to boot. Its just absolutely breath taking. I have access to the concierge lounge right next door to my room which has a panaromic view of the city (with a minor exception of a building, but I can accept it ^.^).  I was a bit tired and wasn't up to galavanting around the city so I decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant called Showcase. It wasn't bad at all. I normally stay at Marriott Hotels during my travels and they have failed to disappoint me. I had a lobster bisque which was quite interesting. Not what I'm normally used to. This particular recipe included brandy.  I'm still not sure if I like it but It wasn't bad either. I requested a local wine. I've heard positive feed back on the wines from the Okanawan Valley region and wanted to try one of their white wines since it would be a good pair with my seafood dish. I had a Pinot Gris from Sandhill and it was amazing.  I wish I could take a bottle back home with me. Let's see if I can find a wine shop around here >.> The seafood pasta dish was delicious but unfortunaley I could not finish my meal. Most probably because of the lobster bisque. I didnt expect it to be such a big bowl and I did not finish all my soup. By the time I was done I was stuffed :) Dessert was not an option. When my bill came to the table, the waitress brought me chocolate truffles ^.^ and they were delicious! I have no idea how I was able to eat them, but I managed. It was a nice ending to a long day.  Tomorrow's another day...
